Depositary/membership of ICA 2007

On 25 January 2008, the Council approved Resolution 436 designating the International Coffee Organization as the Depositary for the International Coffee Agreement (ICA) 2007. The contact details for the Depositary of the ICA 2007 are as follows:

Procedures for membership

At its 101st Session from 22 to 26 September 2008, the Council approved Resolutions 439 and 440, respectively extending the deadlines for signature and the deposit of instruments of ratification, acceptance or approval until 25 September 2009.   Information about procedures for membership together with examples of  full powers and model instruments of ratification, acceptance or approval is given below.

Entry into force

The ICA 2007 will enter into force once signatory governments with two-thirds of the votes of exporting and importing Members, respectively, have deposited their instruments of ratification, acceptance, approval or notifications of provisional application. The current Agreement (the ICA 2001) has been extended by Resolution 438 until 30 September 2009 to allow sufficient time for countries to complete the necessary legal procedures required for the entry into force of the new Agreement.
